Bringing wearable devices and Edge AI out of the laboratory and turning them into concrete tools to support athletes: this is the focus of Cubit’s participation in the GSUN’26 Summit, taking place on 7–8 October 2026 in Cologne, at the German Sport University Cologne, as part of the activities of the European project EU-TRAINS.
The event will bring together universities, sport professionals, federations and international stakeholders to discuss the future of sport science and the transition from technological innovation to operational applications. For Cubit, it will be an important opportunity to exchange views on wearable technologies, Edge AI and digital solutions applied to sports performance and health.
On 8 October, from 15:15 to 16:15, Lorenzo Monti will take part in Panel Session 7.2, “Wearables and Edge AI in Aquatic Sports: Translating EU-TRAINS Research into Practice for Swimmers”. The panel will focus on the work carried out within the EU-TRAINS project to address the connectivity challenges typical of aquatic environments through Edge AI-based wearable devices.
In collaboration with Swimprove, EU-TRAINS is developing a swimming-specific solution capable of processing biomechanical data directly on the device worn by the athlete. Local data processing helps reduce the limitations of wireless transmission in water and enables real-time feedback on technique, efficiency and movement quality.
The session will also feature Marco Ottella from Xtremion Technology GmbH, Luca Borgianni from the University of Pisa, Boris Dragutinovic from the German Sport University Cologne and Marco Rossi from Swimprove.
EU-TRAINS aims to develop a European ecosystem of wearable sensors, smart textiles and AI-based solutions for the real-time monitoring of biomechanical and cardiovascular parameters, with applications in sport, fitness and health.
Cubit’s participation in the GSUN’26 Summit represents another step in transferring EU-TRAINS results towards real-world use cases, confirming Cubit’s contribution to the development of embedded, wearable and Edge AI technologies for highly complex application contexts.
