Introductory Courses in CFD Analysis

Introductory Courses in CFD Analysis

Today’s job market increasingly calls for a diverse skill set: knowing only your own area of application often proves limiting in a highly competitive, fast-changing landscape.

With this in mind, Cubit is offering two new training courses in CFD analysis, aimed at engineering professionals who want to develop innovative skills and test new solutions for their work, as well as at recent graduates and students taking their first steps into the world of work.

Participants will gain the ability to carry out numerical fluid-dynamics analyses independently, with a particular focus on developing practical skills. For organisations that want to apply these skills directly to engineering work, Cubit also provides industrial CFD consulting for real project needs.

The theoretical part will be delivered by Prof. Giovanni Lombardi, Technical Director of Cubit’s Fluid Dynamics Division and lecturer in Aircraft Aerodynamics and Ground Vehicle Aerodynamics at the University of Pisa.

The CFD-focused part will be led by Marco Maganzi, Head of CFD Applications Engineering at Cubit, who brings more than ten years of experience in the field.

The teaching reflects what makes Cubit distinctive: it draws on academic knowledge with a strong focus on industrial applications, combined with the solid hands-on experience of specialised technical staff.

The “Introductory Course in CFD Analysis – Basic Level” is designed to build the ability to perform competitive CFD analyses, with 8 hours of classroom teaching in a single day, structured as follows:

  • theoretical foundations of fluid dynamics (2 hours)
  • fundamentals of CFD analysis (2 hours)
  • analysis of practical examples (4 hours), including a demo explaining and analysing the steps required to set up a simulation.

The “Introductory Course in CFD Analysis – Advanced Level” explores the practical aspects in greater depth and runs over two days, for a total of 16 hours, structured as follows:

  • 4 hours of lessons on the theory of fluid dynamics, with analysis of the practical applications of notable phenomena;
  • 4 hours presenting CFD methodologies and their dedicated software;
  • 4 hours of classroom analysis of notable examples;
  • 4 hours of workshop to independently build one or more CFD simulations using Star CCM+, provided by Cubit.

Both courses run every two months, currently online to safeguard participants’ health, with the aim of switching to in-person delivery as soon as the public-health situation allows.

Course fees:

  • €300 + VAT for the “Introduction to CFD – Basic Level” course.
  • €600 + VAT for the “Introduction to CFD – Advanced Level” course.

A 15% discount applies to university students and recent graduates (those who graduated no more than two years ago), rising to 25% for students or recent graduates of the University of Pisa.
A minimum of 3 participants is required to run the advanced course.

Participants will be provided with all the necessary course materials. For the Advanced Level, temporary Star CCM+ licences will be provided for the workshop.
