The MoICT Project aimed to enhance the competencies of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University (USMBA) in Fez, Morocco, in the field of intelligent water management through ICT solutions and to strategically position USMBA within the European Research Area (ERA).
The specific objectives of the project were as follows:
- Strengthening the USMBA’s capacity in research and application of ICT technologies in the water sector.
- Increasing the capacity for innovation and the quality of research management.
- Promoting research cooperation between the EU and Morocco in the ICT and water sectors.
- Supporting young researchers through a targeted mobility program.
CUBIT played a role in the project by transferring its know-how and expertise to Moroccan researchers, particularly in RFID technologies applied to WSN (Wireless Sensor Networks), through on–site training cycles. CUBIT also provided entrepreneurial expertise related to the creation of spin-offs and the development of research centers through on-site training cycles for Moroccan researchers. Additionally, technology transfer based on specific joint research objectives was carried out directly in the CUBIT laboratory, which hosted groups of Moroccan researchers from USMBA for 5-day periods.
The MoICT project brought together a well-defined mix of competencies in water research, ICT technologies, and strategic capacity development. The partnership included the following organizations: Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah – USMBA (Morocco), Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic (Spain), Consortium Ubiquitous Technologies – CUBIT Scarl (Italy), Redinn Srl (Italy) (Role of CUBIT: Beneficiary).
