The Challenge
The path towards digital and sustainable urban development is no longer optional and can only be pursued through high-specialization technologies and knowledge to ensure the quality and reliability of the services offered. Based on this vision, the research and development project focused on fundamental technologies that allowed the client to establish a strong position in the design and production of Smart City, Smart Mobility, and Smart Parking technologies and solutions.
The Solution
From preliminary studies to feasibility tests, Cubit engaged in researching the best components suitable not only for effective functionality but also for cost-effectiveness of the entire project. The final result took the form of an ultrasonic sensor with a proprietary radio interface operating at 433MHz, enabling the detection of vehicle presence within parking spaces.
Constructed with materials suitable for positioning on asphalt, practically on the surface of each individual parking space, and highly resistant to atmospheric changes and vehicle traffic, this sensor is connected to a data control unit that collects presence information from the parking space and sends it to central servers. Particular attention was given to testing and evaluating the components to ensure maximum reliability in detecting vehicle presence under any weather and lighting conditions. Data collection occurs in real-time, allowing for convenient visualization of parking space availability on informational panels distributed throughout the city. An additional service also enables motorists to make parking payments directly through their smartphones using a dedicated app.
