Webinar “America’s Cup 2021. The AC75: sailing on the ‘wings’ of technology”

How do “flying” boats that race at 100 km/h actually work? Let’s find out with the webinar organised by Cubit and Partitalia.

“Flying” over the surface of the water, reaching speeds unimaginable for ordinary boats, is possible thanks to the use of special wings (foils). Foils are now fairly common in the sailing world, but the engineering and sailing techniques required to make the AC75 “fly” are completely different from anything seen before.

The next “Partitalia Academy” webinar, on Thursday 11 February 2021, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., will introduce us to the hydrodynamic “magic” of foils and to the technological innovations of the 2021 America’s Cup.

The speaker at this online event will be Giovanni Lombardi, Professor of Aircraft Aerodynamics and Vehicle Aerodynamics at the University of Pisa, Director of Cubit’s Fluid Dynamics Division and technical coordinator of the “Green Comm Racing” America’s Cup team.

The webinar will be introduced by Arnaldo Merante, Senior Technology Consultant at Partitalia, a sailing expert and enthusiast and an instructor for the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV).

The event is free but registration is required.
