UDOO KEY is a fully programmable board that integrates a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller and an ESP32 module with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth into a single device, offering the best of both worlds.
In conjunction with SECO’s R&D Unit, Cubit conducted preliminary assessment activities to define the mechanical dimensions of the device and identify the components to be used. Following the technical analysis of the identified and agreed-upon solutions, co-design of the electrical schemes, BOM, and 3D PCB Layout was carried out, leading to the realization of printed circuits and prototyping of the device, validated through Pre-Compliance testing according to RED+FCC regulations. Subsequently, hardware validation and climate chamber testing in the range of 0°/+60°C were conducted. Cubit also supported SECO in developing the necessary firmware for certification and testing, culminating in RED and FCC certification of the prototype.
UDOO KEY integrates two high-level MCUs: the Raspberry Pi Pico-compatible part is based on the RP2040 microcontroller, a dual ARM Cortex-M0 with an 8MB QSPI flash memory, clocked at 133 MHz, and 264 KB of on-chip SRAM. The ESP32, on the other hand, is based on a 32-bit dual-core Xtensa LX6, with 16 MB of flash memory, an 8 MB PSRAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and BLE. Both microcontrollers offer various options for AI application development, as they can be programmed using different development environments such as TinyML, TensorFlow Lite, MicroPython, C/C++, Arduino IDE, and many others.
UDOO KEY natively supports Clea, SECO Mind’s IoT and AI analytics software platform for deploying AI models and applications on IoT devices.
